Lake County Journal: Underwood, Duckworth campaign in Lake County
ST. CHARLES – U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth joined Lauren Underwood, the Democratic nominee for Congress in Illinois’ 14th District, for a day of conversation with working parents, small-business owners and veterans in Lake County on Oct. 17.
The women began the day at Antioch’s Café Book for a conversation about bipartisan measures to improve the lives of families in the 14th District, such as paid family leave and affordable child care.
They next visited the Waukegan headquarters of American Outfitters for a tour of the screen printing facility and discussion of policies to support Illinois’ small businesses. The duo completed their day by hosting a roundtable discussion with veterans in Gurnee.
“I was glad to join Lauren Underwood in Lake County to talk about how Congress can better represent the needs of working families, veterans and small-business owners, and I’m proud to support Lauren in this campaign,” Duckworth said in a news release. “She will be a strong advocate for families across the 14th District and she’ll go to work every day ready to solve problems and work across the aisle to help grow the economy, support our veterans and ensure every person has access to the affordable health care they deserve.”
“Sen. Tammy Duckworth consistently works across the aisle to get results for Illinois families. She demonstrates that bipartisanship is still possible in Washington,” Underwood, a registered nurse and health policy expert from Naperville, said in the release. “I am honored to have Sen. Duckworth’s support in this race. I look forward to working as her partner in Washington to ensure our families have access to the quality health care and good-paying jobs they deserve.”
